Life's Not Fair

This one is comparatively short, but I think it’s an important reminder for dealing with specific situations.

There are times when, as painful a reality as it is, life truly isn’t fair. We’re social mammals hardwired to act on emotion, living on a rock with finite resources… not exactly Utopia.

However, I’ve found that some jump to the “Life’s not fair” maxim a bit too hastily and liberally. These people use it as a copout more than a statement about the perceived injustice of the human condition.

When this occurs, ask yourself: “How much does this person benefit from the unfairness we’re discussing?”

Act accordingly.
